Shopify Pricing in Jordan: Plans, Fees and Real Monthly Cost

Shopify pricing in Jordan starts with a plan subscription (Basic, Grow, Advanced or Plus), but the subscription is only part of the bill. Because Shopify Payments is not available in Jordan, every card order processed through a local gateway carries a Shopify transaction fee on top of the gateway’s commission, while cash on delivery and CliQ do not. This guide explains the pricing structure as we verified it on Shopify’s official pages in October 2026, and every cost line a Jordanian store should budget for.

The current Shopify plans, read from Jordan

Shopify’s pricing page lists four main plans: Basic for new and small stores, Grow for growing stores with steady sales (older articles call it the “Shopify” plan), Advanced for larger operations, and Plus for enterprise brands on contract. A lighter Starter plan for selling through product links on social media has also existed, but it is not shown on the main pricing page at the time of writing and its availability varies by account.

Before you look at any figure, keep three points in mind:

  1. Prices depend on your country. The FAQ on Shopify’s pricing page says pricing and payment options can differ depending on where your business is based. A number you read in a US or Saudi article may not be the one you are offered, so open the page yourself.
  2. You are billed in US dollars. Shopify bills subscriptions in a short list of currencies (USD, EUR, GBP and INR), and Jordan is not among the countries with local-currency billing, so the invoice is in USD and charged to your card.
  3. Yearly is cheaper than monthly. Shopify’s help center explains that annual billing charges the full year upfront at a lower effective monthly rate. Choose it once you are confident the store will run for at least a year.
PlanBest forShopify fee with a third-party payment provider
BasicA new or small store2%
GrowA store with regular sales and a real share of card payments1%
AdvancedA larger store that needs deeper reports and more staff0.6%
PlusEnterprise brands on annual contracts0.2%

The percentages are those shown on Shopify’s pricing page in October 2026 and can change. We deliberately leave out subscription prices because they vary by country and promotion; check the live page before you subscribe.

Why transaction fees matter more in Jordan

Where Shopify Payments is available, merchants pay no extra transaction fee. The Help Center’s list of supported countries has 40 countries and regions, and Jordan is not one of them. A Jordanian store therefore accepts cards through a third-party payment provider and pays two things on each card order: the provider’s commission under its contract, and Shopify’s transaction fee according to the plan.

The good news is that the Help Center states clearly that manual payment methods are not charged third-party transaction fees, naming cash on delivery and bank transfers as examples. That covers CliQ when you add it as a manual payment method, as explained in CliQ payment on Shopify in Jordan.

Payment methodShopify transaction feeOther costs
Card through a local gatewayYes, by planGateway commission under your contract
Cash on deliveryNoCourier collection fee and the cost of refused orders
CliQ as a manual methodNoAny bank charges, plus daily reconciliation time

We do not quote gateway or courier rates: they differ between providers and change with negotiation. Ask each provider for its rates in writing before you sign.

Theme and apps: where you pay and when

Theme: free or paid?

When we checked, the official Shopify Theme Store listed 24 free themes, including Dawn and Horizon, alongside hundreds of paid ones. A paid theme is a one-time purchase, not a monthly subscription, and it is licensed only to the store it was bought for.

A paid theme earns its price when you need features the free ones do not offer easily, such as advanced filtering for a large catalog or a distinctive product page. Whichever you choose, test it in Arabic with right-to-left layout on a phone before you commit; some themes look great in English and need fixes in Arabic.

Apps: the line that grows quietly

Apps are billed on their own cycle, separate from the plan, and many are monthly subscriptions. They pile up: one for reviews, one for translation, one for shipping rules, one for pop-ups, until apps cost more than the plan without anyone noticing.

Our rule: install an app only for a job you need done now, and review the list every quarter. Unused apps often leave code behind that slows the store, so remove them properly.

Domain, email and day-to-day running costs

  • Domain: buy it from Shopify or any registrar and connect it; either way it renews yearly. A .jo domain has its own registration conditions, so ask the registrar before you start.
  • Business email: not included in the Shopify plan; you need a separate email service.
  • Delivery: not a Shopify charge, but one of the largest running costs in Jordan, and it differs between Amman and the governorates. See delivery companies in Jordan for online stores.

How to choose the right plan

The formula is simple, with one Jordanian twist: take the difference in transaction fee between two plans, multiply it by your card sales only, not total sales, and compare the result with the difference in subscription.

An illustrative example with hypothetical figures: if a third of your orders are paid by card and the rest on delivery, moving from Basic to Grow saves 1% on that third only. That is why Jordanian stores reach the upgrade point later than stores in card-first markets. As you push more customers to prepay by card or CliQ the maths shifts, so rerun it every quarter.

Five ways to lower the cost without cutting quality

  1. Pay yearly once you trust the store’s continuity; the effective monthly rate is lower.
  2. Push prepayment through CliQ: it carries no Shopify transaction fee and reduces refused cash-on-delivery orders.
  3. Negotiate the gateway commission as card volume grows.
  4. Choose apps that cover several jobs instead of one app per small task.
  5. Use the trial to set the store up completely before the paid subscription starts.

Remember that Advanced and above do not sell more by themselves. Their value is in deeper reporting, more staff accounts and lower transaction fees, which matter to stores with a team and large card sales.

From our experience

E-SAFQA is a Shopify Partner in Jordan based in Amman, and on every project we start with the plan that covers the actual need, not the most expensive one. When we built Fragrance Hub with more than 2,000 products, the budget went where sales come from: a customised Arabic and English theme, a Merchant Center connection and a Performance Max campaign that returned 4.6x on spend before scaling. For Xmart we developed a custom CliQ payment app so instant transfers are matched to orders automatically. That is the work behind our Shopify store development service, and we help you pick the right plan in a free consultation. Conclusion

Shopify pricing in Jordan is clear on the subscription, but your real cost depends on how customers pay: card orders carry Shopify’s fee and the gateway’s commission, while cash on delivery and CliQ carry no Shopify fee but have their own running costs. Start with the plan that fits, verify prices on Shopify’s official page from Jordan, and rerun the numbers whenever your card share changes. Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify cost in Jordan?

Shopify publishes its plan prices on its official pricing page and states that pricing can differ depending on where your business is based, so check the figure shown to you from Jordan. On every plan, yearly billing gives a lower effective monthly rate than monthly billing.

Is Shopify Payments available in Jordan?

No. Jordan is not on the list of supported countries in the Shopify Help Center, so Jordanian stores accept cards through a third-party payment provider and add cash on delivery and CliQ as manual payment methods.

Does Shopify take a fee on cash on delivery orders?

No. The Shopify Help Center states that manual payment methods, including cash on delivery and bank transfers, are not charged third-party transaction fees. Your delivery company's collection fee still applies under your contract with it.

Do I need a paid Shopify theme?

Not necessarily. The official Theme Store offers a set of free themes that are enough for many stores, and a paid theme is a one-time purchase licensed to one store, so buy one only when you need features the free themes lack.

Which Shopify plan should a new Jordanian store choose?

Most new stores start on Basic, because a large share of Jordanian orders is paid on delivery with no Shopify transaction fee. Move to Grow when card sales are large enough that the fee you save covers the higher subscription.
