How to Choose a Shopify Developer in Jordan: 2026 Checklist

To choose a Shopify developer in Jordan, test their live stores on your phone, confirm that the store and every account will be in your name, and get a written scope that covers Arabic, cash on delivery, CliQ, delivery zones, tracking and after-launch support. Whether you hire a freelancer, an agency or a listed Shopify Partner matters less than whether they can prove these points before you sign. This guide gives you the comparison, the checks, the red flags and the exact questions to ask.

Five-step flow for evaluating a Shopify developer in Jordan: live stores, their role, ownership, tracking and local setup, then scope and support Figure: the order in which to check a developer before you sign.

Freelancer, agency or Shopify Partner: what is the difference?

Searches for web design in Amman and ecommerce website design in Jordan return all three types of provider, often on the same page. They are not interchangeable:

Typical strengthOne skill done well (design or code)Websites in general, often several platformsShopify stores specifically

Coverage of tracking, payments and adsUsually needs other peopleVariesOften part of the scope; ask
Capacity if someone is unavailableDepends on one personA teamDepends on the team size
Best fitSmall store, clear limited scopeBrand websites and mixed projectsStores that need to sell and grow on Shopify

None of these is wrong. The point is to match the provider to your store. A perfume brand with 2,000 products, Meta and Google ads and Gulf ambitions needs more than a theme install. A home baker with ten products may not. For what the Partner title does and does not mean, read what a Shopify Partner agency is and how to verify one.

Comparison of a freelancer, a web design agency and a Shopify Partner agency by strength, how to verify them, tracking coverage, capacity and best fit Figure: the three provider types side by side, based on the table above.

Check the portfolio on live stores, not screenshots

Ask for three live stores built or substantially rebuilt by the developer, then test each one on your phone:

  • Speed. Open the home page and a product page on mobile data. Run them through Google’s PageSpeed Insights and note whether the developer can explain the results.
  • Arabic RTL quality. Text should run right to left without broken alignment, arrows and sliders should be mirrored, the Arabic font should be readable, and checkout labels should be in Arabic. English product names inside Arabic text should not break the line order.
  • Language switching. If the store is bilingual, each language should have its own URL, not a widget that rewrites the page.
  • Checkout. Add a product to the cart and go to checkout. Is cash on delivery offered? Is there a CliQ option? Are delivery fees for Amman and the governorates clear?
  • Their role. Ask what exactly they did on each store: full build, migration, or a theme edit.

Also ask to speak to one past client. Ask that client one question: what happened the first time something broke after launch?

Who owns the store, domain and ad accounts

Ownership is the point Jordanian merchants most often regret skipping. Agree on this table in writing:

AssetCorrect setupWarning sign
Shopify storeStore owner is you, with your emailStore on the developer’s account, to be transferred later with no date
DomainRegistered in your name and accountRegistered in the developer’s name
Theme and appsLicensed and billed to your storeLicences or subscriptions on the developer’s account
Meta business portfolio, Pixel and ad accountOwned by your business, developer added as partnerAd account owned by the developer
Google Ads, GA4, Merchant CenterYour Google accounts, developer given accessCreated under the developer’s email
Payment provider and bank accountYour merchant and bank accountsPayments collected through an intermediary

A Shopify developer does not need your password. They request collaborator access from their partner dashboard, you approve it with the permissions you choose, and you can remove it at any time.

Tracking and Jordan-specific setup belong in the scope

A store that looks good but cannot measure purchases will waste its first ad budget. Ask whether the scope includes Meta Pixel with Conversions API, GA4, Google Merchant Center and Search Console, and whether purchases are tested with a real test order before launch.

Then check the local details that make a Jordanian store work:

  • Cash on delivery rules (fees, limits, WhatsApp order confirmation before shipping).
  • A CliQ payment method with clear instructions, or a plan for automatic matching. See CliQ payment on Shopify in Jordan.
  • Card payments through a third-party provider, because Shopify Payments is not available in Jordan.
  • Delivery zones for Amman and the governorates, matched to your courier.
  • JOD pricing, and a clear position on Gulf customers if you plan to sell there.

Contract scope and after-launch support

A good proposal names what is included and what is not. At minimum it should state the number of products uploaded and who prepares the data, the pages and languages, the payment and delivery setup, tracking, training for your team, the launch date, and a defined support period after launch with a response time. It should also say which costs are yours directly: the Shopify plan, theme, apps and payment fees. Our Shopify pricing in Jordan article explains those platform costs so you can compare quotes on the same basis.

Ask what happens after the support period: are small edits billed per task, monthly, or not offered? A store your team cannot run alone stays dependent on the developer.

Red flags

  • Guaranteed sales or a guaranteed return on ads. Nobody can promise this honestly.
  • The store on the developer’s account with no written ownership transfer.
  • No live stores, only mockups and screenshots.
  • No mention of tracking, or tracking described as a later extra.
  • No knowledge of cash on delivery or CliQ, or a plan to switch them on without rules.
  • A quote with no written scope, which usually means a theme install with little localisation.
  • Pressure to sign today.

Questions to ask before you sign

  1. Can you send your profile link in Shopify’s Partners directory?
  2. Which three live stores did you build, and what was your role on each?
  3. Will the store, domain and every ad and analytics account be in my name?
  4. How will you set up cash on delivery, CliQ and card payments for my store?
  5. Which theme do you suggest for Arabic RTL, and why?
  6. How will you prove purchase tracking works before launch?
  7. What exactly is in the scope, and what is not?
  8. What support do I get after launch, for how long, and how fast do you respond?

From our experience: E-SAFQA is listed as a Service Partner in Shopify’s official Partners directory, with Amman as its primary location and Arabic and English as working languages. We built Cliqat, a bilingual perfume and skincare store with more than 15,000 products, launched within 60 days, and Poshy, which went from an Instagram seller to a complete Shopify store in three weeks with its first order in launch week. In both, payments, delivery and tracking were part of the build, not added later. The broader agency checklist is in how to choose an ecommerce agency in the Gulf, and the steps for a new store are in how to start an online store in Jordan.

Conclusion

Choosing among store design companies in Jordan comes down to proof, ownership and scope: live stores you have tested, every account in your name, and a written plan for Arabic, local payments, delivery, tracking and support. Frequently asked questions

Should I hire a freelancer or an agency for my Shopify store in Jordan?

A capable freelancer can suit a small store with a clear, limited scope. An agency or Shopify Partner suits stores that also need tracking, local payments, large catalogs, ads and ongoing support, because several skills are needed at once.

How do I verify that a developer is a Shopify Partner?

Ask for their profile link in Shopify's official Partners directory and open it on shopify.com. A listed Service Partner shows its location, services and languages there; a logo on the developer's own website is not proof.

Who should own the Shopify store and ad accounts?

You should. The store owner account, domain, Meta business portfolio, Google Ads account, GA4 property and payment accounts are created in your name, and the developer works through collaborator or partner access that you can remove.

What should a Shopify store in Jordan include at handover?

A tested checkout with cash on delivery and your CliQ method, card payments through your provider, delivery zones for Amman and the governorates, policy pages, Arabic and English if needed, working Pixel, Conversions API and GA4, and team training.

What are the biggest red flags when choosing a store design company in Jordan?

Promised sales figures, refusal to put ownership in writing, no live stores to test, no plan for tracking, and no knowledge of cash on delivery or CliQ. Any one of these is a reason to keep looking.
