Best Shopify Apps for Arabic Stores: A Stack Sorted by Job

The best Shopify apps for Arabic stores by job: reviews, translation, cash on delivery, WhatsApp, sale scheduling, SEO and shipping, without slowing your store.

Author: Mousa Alhelo · Published · 6 min read

The best Shopify apps for Arabic stores are not the most-downloaded ones; they are a small set that covers what a merchant in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait or Jordan actually needs: reviews that build trust, translation that makes the store bilingual, organised cash on delivery, WhatsApp for customer contact, a safe sales scheduler, plus SEO, analytics and shipping. This guide sorts apps by job, explains when free is enough and when paid is worth it, and shows how to keep apps from slowing your store.

Why sort apps by job instead of popularity?

A new Shopify store starts clean and fast. Then the merchant installs an app for every idea they read about. Six months later there are 25 apps, half unused, all loading scripts on every page. The result is a slower store, a higher monthly bill and a lower conversion rate.

The better approach is to write down the jobs your store needs done, then find one good app per job. In our experience with Arabic and Gulf stores, eight jobs come up in almost every case. Here they are in order.

1. Product reviews: trust first

Gulf shoppers read reviews before buying, especially for perfumes, beauty and electronics. What you need from a reviews app:

  • Import of reviews you already have (from an old platform, or manually from Instagram).
  • Automatic review requests after delivery, ideally over WhatsApp, where open rates in the region beat email.
  • Stars in Google results through structured data (Schema).
  • Photo and video reviews.

The full picture is in Shopify product reviews apps and trust.

2. Translation: Arabic and English without two stores

Most Gulf stores need Arabic and English together. Shopify provides the Translate & Adapt app for free, and it is enough to start a store with dozens of products. Stores with thousands of products, or that need higher-quality machine translation, usually move to a paid app. In every case the essentials are the same: a correct URL structure (a subfolder per language), automatic hreflang tags, and translating collections and policy pages before long product descriptions.

See the comparison in Shopify translation apps for a bilingual store.

3. Cash on delivery: organise it, do not just switch it on

Cash on delivery is built into Shopify, but Arabic stores need more than the toggle: a fee on cash payments, hiding it for certain products or regions, and confirming the order before shipping to reduce returns. This is where payment customisation apps or Shopify Functions (for stores with a developer) come in. The single most valuable function is order confirmation over WhatsApp, which the next section covers.

4. WhatsApp: the region’s first contact channel

In Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan, WhatsApp is where customers ask about sizes, shipping and delivery dates. The app you need should provide:

Function Why it matters for an Arabic store
Floating WhatsApp button Turns a question into a conversation instead of an exit
Automatic order confirmation Cuts fake orders on cash on delivery
Abandoned cart recovery Three scheduled messages with a unique discount code bring back part of lost orders
Back-in-stock alerts Brings the customer back when the product returns
Message log and analytics Shows which message actually produces orders

Our app WhatsApp Pilot provides these functions by connecting your number through a QR code scan, with no WhatsApp Business API required, and sends messages in Arabic or English. Details at whatsapppilot.esafqa.com and in the guide to connecting WhatsApp to your Shopify store.

5. Sales and pricing: scheduling and safe rollback

White Friday, Ramadan and weekly offers mean editing hundreds of prices and then restoring them. Doing it by hand or through a CSV invites mistakes: a forgotten price, a compare-at price that was never updated, or a sale that ended while prices stayed discounted. A good sales app previews every change at variant level before publishing, schedules start and end, and restores prices automatically.

Our app SalePilot is built around exactly that: bulk editing by collection, tag, vendor or SKU, a preview before publishing, scheduling with automatic rollback, and a countdown timer on the product page. The site is salepilot.esafqa.com, and the hands-on walkthrough is in how to schedule Shopify sales automatically.

6. SEO and structured data

Most of what Shopify SEO needs is done in the settings themselves: titles, descriptions, URLs and images. SEO apps help with three things specifically: structured data for products and FAQs, bulk 301 redirects when URLs change, and audits of oversized images and alt text. Be wary of apps that promise “automatic optimisation” of every page; they often add more code than value. Our full guide is the Shopify SEO complete guide.

7. Analytics and tracking

Before any analytics app, make sure the foundation is right: Meta Pixel with the Conversions API, GA4 with eCommerce events, Google Ads conversions and a linked Merchant Center. Paid reporting apps are useful when you want true profitability (MER) in store numbers rather than ad-platform numbers, which overlap and cannot be added together. In many cases a monthly report built on Shopify itself is enough.

8. Shipping and delivery

A shipping app shortens the daily routine: printing labels, sending tracking numbers and connecting to local couriers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan. Choose the app that supports the couriers you actually use, sends the tracking link over WhatsApp or SMS, and treats cash on delivery as its own case.

What to avoid: rules against app bloat

  • One app per job. Do not run two review apps or three pop-up apps.
  • Measure speed before and after each install. Use PageSpeed Insights on a product page and a collection page.
  • Prefer Theme App Extensions. Apps built on them load as App embeds you can switch off in the theme editor, and they uninstall with no residue.
  • Review the bill monthly. Remove any app unused for 30 days.
  • Distrust apps that edit theme files directly without explaining how they remove their code on uninstall.

We explain the audit method in Shopify apps slowing down your store and the Shopify speed optimisation guide.

From our experience

At Xmart, an electronics store in Jordan, part of our work was a performance audit of the Xtra theme and speed fixes, followed by a custom CliQ payment app because no public app covered the case. At BrandVIP, with more than 5,000 products, no off-the-shelf app could sync supplier stock accurately, so we built a sync engine that matches 8,788 products automatically. The lesson: start with public apps, and when you hit their limits, consider custom Shopify app development.

Conclusion

The ideal stack for an Arabic store on Shopify covers eight roles and no more: reviews, translation, organised cash on delivery, WhatsApp, scheduled sales, SEO, analytics and shipping. Pick one app per role, watch your speed, and delete what you do not use. When you need a function nobody offers, our custom apps and integrations team builds it. Send us your store link on WhatsApp and we will review your app list and suggest what to remove and what to add.

Frequently asked questions

How many apps should a Shopify store have?

There is no fixed number, but a practical rule is one app per core job and removing anything not opened in a month. Most Arabic stores we manage run on six to twelve active apps.

Are free apps enough to start?

Often yes for reviews, translation and a floating WhatsApp button. Automation such as abandoned cart recovery and sale scheduling usually needs a paid plan, which pays for itself with the first order it saves.

How do I know whether an app is slowing my store?

Measure a product page in PageSpeed Insights before and after installing, and check App embeds in the theme editor. If load time rises noticeably and the app is not essential, remove it and clean up what it left behind.

Does the app need to support Arabic?

What matters is that customer-facing messages can be translated and work with RTL layouts. An English admin interface is fine if your team is comfortable with it.
