Shopify Store Launch Checklist: 40 Points Before You Go Live

A 40-point Shopify store launch checklist: legal pages, tracking, SEO basics, payment tests, shipping zones, email, apps, speed and mobile QA before going live.

Launching a Shopify store is not the click that removes the password. It is the moment you confirm that everything you built works together: payments go through, shipping is calculated correctly, tracking records, legal pages exist and the store is fast on mobile. This is the checklist we actually use before launching our clients’ stores, organised into eight groups of 40 points. Go through it item by item, and if you want the full background on each step, start with how to create a Shopify store step by step.

# Item What to verify
1 Store details Legal name, address and contact email are correct
2 Currency, time zone and units Match your primary market (SAR, AED, KWD, JOD)
3 Policy pages Privacy, returns, shipping, terms and conditions published and linked in the footer
4 Contact page WhatsApp number, email, address and commercial registration or ecommerce licence
5 Taxes VAT enabled per your country with prices marked as inclusive where applicable

Group 2: payments (5 points)

  1. The licensed gateway is active and running in live mode, not test mode.
  2. The methods your customers expect are available: mada and Apple Pay in Saudi Arabia, KNET in Kuwait, CliQ in Jordan. Details in Shopify payment gateways in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the Gulf.
  3. Cash on delivery is enabled only for suitable regions, with a cap or fee if needed.
  4. A small real order was completed successfully with every payment method from a phone.
  5. A refund was tested from the admin and the amount arrived.

Group 3: shipping (5 points)

  1. Shipping zones cover every country and city you sell to, with no open zone at a wrong rate.
  2. Shipping rates (flat, weight-based, free above a threshold) match your courier contracts.
  3. Product weights are entered if shipping is weight-based.
  4. The courier app is connected and generates a correct label for a test order.
  5. Expected delivery time is stated honestly on the product or shipping page, because any promise in ads must match the store.

Group 4: products and content (5 points)

  1. Every product has a clear title, proper copy, high-quality images on a consistent background, price, SKU and correct variants.
  2. Inventory is entered, and unavailable products are either hidden or show a clear sold-out state.
  3. Collections are organised and the main and footer menus work with no broken links.
  4. The home page shows only the key sections and current offers, with no test banners or default theme text.
  5. A bilingual store is fully translated including checkout and notifications; see the Shopify Arabic RTL theme guide.

Group 5: tracking (5 points)

This group is the most neglected and the most expensive to neglect.

  1. Meta Pixel is installed with the Conversions API and event deduplication works.
  2. View content, add to cart, initiate checkout and purchase events appear in the events test tool.
  3. GA4 is connected with complete ecommerce events.
  4. Google Ads conversion tracking is ready and the store is added to Merchant Center.
  5. The site is added to Google Search Console and the sitemap submitted.

The detailed walkthrough is in Meta Pixel and Conversions API setup for Shopify.

Group 6: SEO basics (5 points)

  1. Page titles and meta descriptions are written for the home page, collections and key products.
  2. Product and collection URLs are short and readable.
  3. Images have alt text and compressed sizes.
  4. No test pages or empty products are indexable.
  5. The primary domain is set, SSL is active and the non-www version redirects to the primary one. More in the complete Shopify SEO guide.

Group 7: email, notifications and communication (5 points)

  1. The sender email is set on your domain with authenticated records so order emails do not land in spam.
  2. Order confirmation and shipping notifications are translated and branded with your logo.
  3. A WhatsApp button is visible on every page and automatic order confirmation is enabled through WhatsApp Pilot (whatsapppilot.esafqa.com).
  4. Abandoned cart recovery is enabled by email or WhatsApp for customers who opted in to marketing.
  5. The first launch offer is scheduled safely with a start and end date and automatic price rollback through Sale Scheduler by SalePilot (salepilot.esafqa.com).

Group 8: speed and mobile experience (5 points)

  1. Unused apps are removed along with their code in the theme.
  2. Home page and product page speed are measured on mobile with Google’s tools and the major issues fixed; see Shopify speed optimisation.
  3. The full purchase journey was tested on iPhone and Android in two different browsers.
  4. Two people outside the team completed an order from a phone without guidance and noted what confused them.
  5. The password was removed at a quiet time, and the first real orders were reviewed in the store and in the tracking tools before ads were switched on.

How to use the checklist wisely

Do not review all 40 points in one day. Spread them over the final week before launch: legal and payments on day one, shipping and products on day two, tracking on day three, SEO and email on day four, then two days for mobile testing and fixes. Keep the checklist after launch; it also works as a quarterly review.

From our experience: the VitaRain single-product store (a vitamin C shower filter in ten scents) had to convince and sell on the first visit. We focused on a convincing product page with imported reviews, a clear variant structure, and a fresh Pixel and Conversions API setup, delivering a complete launch store with full tracking ready for campaigns. The checklist above is what makes a one-product store and a 15,000-product store equally ready, and it is part of every project in our Shopify store development service.

Conclusion

A successful Shopify launch is the result of 40 small items completed in order, not luck or a big ad campaign. Finish legal, payments and shipping, then products, tracking and SEO, then email and speed, and test on mobile before removing the password. Frequently asked questions

What is the single most important item before launching a Shopify store?

A complete purchase test from a phone with every payment method, confirming the purchase event reaches Meta Pixel and GA4. If that test passes, most fatal errors are ruled out.

Do I need all the policy pages?

Yes: privacy, returns and exchanges, shipping, and terms and conditions, plus a contact page with a phone number and address. You can generate them from Shopify's templates and then edit them to match your real policy.

When should I remove the store password?

After the whole checklist is complete and payments, shipping and tracking are tested. Remove it at a quiet time of day so you can watch the first orders calmly.

How many apps should I have at launch?

As few as possible: what you actually need for payments, shipping, communication and perhaps reviews. Every extra app needs testing and affects speed, and more can be added after launch.

Should I start ads on launch day?

Wait until you confirm the first real orders were recorded correctly in the store and in the tracking tools, then start with a test budget calculated from your profit margin.
