UGC Creatives for Gulf Ads: Briefs, Creators and QA Rules
UGC creatives for Gulf ads: how to brief and source creators, QA rules with no watermarks or third-party branding, Arabic hooks, and a testing cadence.

UGC creatives for Gulf ads are videos filmed by a real person using your product naturally, then run as ads on your store’s own accounts across Meta, Snapchat and TikTok. Their value does not come from production quality but from credibility: a Gulf customer trusts the experience of someone who looks like them more than a polished studio video. But good UGC does not happen by accident; it needs a clear brief, the right creators, strict quality rules and a disciplined testing cadence. This guide explains each step the way we apply it with the stores we manage.
Why UGC works in Gulf markets specifically
Audiences in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait spend long hours on Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram Reels, fast vertical-video platforms where a polished ad looks out of place. A video that opens with a person talking to the camera from their room or car gets past the defence a viewer raises against ads. On top of that, a large share of purchase decisions in the region is built on personal recommendation, and UGC is the ad format closest to it.
That does not mean UGC works for every product. Products with a visible use (skincare, home appliances, accessories, clothing) benefit more than products whose effect is not visible.
The brief: what you define and what you leave to the creator
A good brief directs without dictating a word-for-word script, because a memorised script kills the natural feel. The structure we use:
| Brief element | What you define | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Product and offer | Product name, what it does, price if part of the message | Vitamin C serum, 30 ml |
| Audience | Who the creator is speaking to | Women 25 to 40 with dull skin |
| Problem | The pain that opens the video | Dull skin despite a routine |
| Hooks (3 alternatives) | The first 3 seconds | A question, a confession, a surprising result |
| Usage | What must appear on screen | Opening the box, applying, texture |
| Allowed claims | What can and cannot be said | No medical promises, no undocumented numbers |
| Call to action | How the video ends | Order from the link, delivery across the Kingdom |
| Technical specs | Vertical 9:16, natural light, clear audio, no embedded music | 20 to 40 seconds |
A golden rule: every claim in the brief must actually be true in the store. Do not write free shipping, next-day delivery or a money-back guarantee unless it is live on the store’s pages. The creator says what you write, and the responsibility sits with the merchant.
Sourcing creators
What we look for is not follower count, because the video runs on the store’s account, not the creator’s. The criteria:
- Natural on camera: speaks as if recommending to a friend.
- Audience fit: age, look and style resembling the target customer.
- Dialect: for the Saudi market, a Saudi or neutral dialect that is easily understood; the same applies to the UAE and Kuwait. An Arab creator from another country speaking neutrally works for many products, and is tested.
- Reliability: delivers on time and accepts revisions.
- Basic filming quality: natural light, clear sound, a steady phone.
E-SAFQA maintains a creator network in Jordan from which we select, film and review quality, and we coordinate with creators in the target market when the dialect requires it. This is part of our content and social media service.
QA rules before upload: the check that is never skipped
We apply this rule to every third-party video before it enters any ad account:
No video is uploaded if it shows a page or account name, a watermark, a follow end card or a platform logo of any third party, including the creator’s own.
The reason is simple: your ad must promote your store only. An account name in the corner pulls the viewer somewhere else, weakens trust and may breach platform policies. The checking method:
- Watch the full video at the highest resolution, not the thumbnail preview.
- Pause on a frame every one or two seconds and inspect all four corners.
- Check the last five seconds with special care; that is where follow screens appear.
- Confirm there is no copyrighted music or logos in the background.
- Confirm the spoken claims match the store.
An important note: before-and-after footage is not a reason to reject or flag a video, as long as it is honest and not exaggerated.
Arabic hooks: the first three seconds
The viewer decides within three seconds. A hook is not a pretty sentence but a reason to keep watching. Patterns that work in Arabic content:
- The direct question: tried everything and your skin is still dull?
- The confession: I used to buy expensive products for nothing until I tried this.
- Result first: this is what happened after two weeks (with the result shot).
- The pre-emptive objection: the price? Cheaper than you think.
- The daily moment: five minutes before work, this is all I need.
Film each video with three different hooks and the same body. That gives you three test versions for the cost of one video, and it is the fastest way to learn which angle opens the view. Always add captions, since a large share watches without sound.
Testing cadence: from video to decision
| Stage | What you do | Duration | Judgement criterion |
|---|---|---|---|
| First batch | 4 to 6 videos × 2 to 3 hooks | Two weeks | Cost per store order and 3-second view rate |
| Sorting | Pause the weakest, keep the best 2 to 3 | One day | Performance versus current campaigns |
| Scaling | Move the winner to the main or Advantage+ campaign | Two weeks | Stable cost per order as spend rises |
| Iteration | Film new versions of the winning angle | Monthly | Resistance to ad fatigue |
Test in a separate campaign with a limited budget so winning campaigns are not disturbed, and never judge a video after a day or two. When moving a winner into Advantage+ Shopping campaigns, watch cost per store order, not view rate. And all of it starts from a correct campaign setup, as in Meta ads for Shopify stores in the Gulf.
From our experience
With DealzGate, a phone-accessory and electronics store in Jordan, building a UGC video pipeline was part of the launch alongside the store build, tracking setup and the first Advantage+ Shopping campaign. Natural videos of products such as Anker chargers and JBL speakers gave the first campaign honest ad material, and it delivered a 9x return on initial spend. Details are in the DealzGate case study. The lesson we repeat: UGC is not a separate content project but raw material for ads, measured by store orders.
How UGC complements the rest of your content
Winning UGC videos also serve the store’s own accounts and pages as part of social media management for online stores, and they feed content marketing for eCommerce stores with short clips for product pages. A video that proved itself in an ad deserves a place on the product page.
Conclusion
UGC creatives for Gulf ads work when managed as a process: a brief that fixes the message and frees the style, creators who resemble the customer, a quality check that allows no third-party identity, three hooks per video, and a separate test judged by store sales. Start with a small batch and repeat what wins.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between UGC and an influencer ad?
In UGC the creator films a video that runs as an ad on the store's own accounts and is not posted on theirs. With an influencer the content is posted on their account to their audience. UGC is bought as an ad asset; an influencer is bought as reach.
How many videos do I need to start testing?
In our experience a batch of 4 to 6 videos with different angles and 2 to 3 hooks per video gives a first reading within two weeks. One video is never enough to judge.
Does the creator need to be from the same Gulf country?
Dialect and context matter in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, but many products work with Arab creators from other countries speaking in a neutral style. Test both and compare by store sales.
Why are videos rejected over a small watermark?
Because any account name, platform logo or third-party follow screen turns your ad into a promotion for someone else, weakens trust and may breach platform policies. We check every video frame by frame before upload.
